Meets Yoga Alliance 85 Hr Standards: Taught by Heather Hamlin Brown

Don’t miss this unique opportunity for teachers interested in teaching pregnancy yoga. This four-module course meets the new Yoga Alliance 85 hour requirement. The in-depth training will be given by Heather Brown, an EYRT 500 & Certified Childbirth Educator, in four weekend modules during 2012, and will explore yoga as a tool in preparation for childbirth and motherhood. The coursework will cover the following:

Understanding the basic anatomy and physiology of pregnancy, as well as common discomforts and challenges and how to support the entire process with a variety of yoga practices.

Learn which postures to emphasize, modify and avoid, how to support them through the use of props, how to design practices for multiple levels of student and stages of pregnancy, postures that prepare students to give birth, as well as why and how to incorporate Vinyasa, Yin and Kundalini techniques into your sequencing.

Gain insight into the energetic and philosophical aspects of yoga during pregnancy and ways to honor the sacred aspect of this transformational time, clear blocks in preparation for birth and parenting, and support connection and bonding with the baby. Explore concepts and practices such as mantra, mudra, meditation, nadis, vayus, chakras, karma and bhakti yoga.
