Celebrating Our Summer Teacher Training Graduates!

Last Friday was the last day of our Summer Intensive Teacher Training, so to celebrate the graduation of a new batch of yoga teachers into the world to spread wellbeing and strength, we’re featuring one of the graduates and their longterm yoga plans.

CJ Keller, a young Marine veteran, shared his plans to serve our military by using his newfound yoga knowledge to benefit our servicemen and women both as an instructor and as an occupational therapist.

“As a Marine Corps Captain and combat veteran, I have been inspired to serve the active military and veteran community,” CJ says. “During my time in the Marines and overseas, I was able to see the life altering and sometimes debilitating effects of combat. These experinces have motivated me to continue to give back and to serve those who have sacrificed their well being for our country and for our freedom.”

For CJ, the disciplines of yoga and the military are not that different, and they complement each other in way that can be beneficial to both. “There are may parallels and similarities between them, both offer a wide range of proven physical as well as mental benefits,” he says. “In short, my experience and expertise as a yogi will allow me to instruct students yoga and it will enhance my ability to provide complimentary and dynamic therapy to patients and clients.”

CJ currently serves on the board of directors for the non-profit Semper Fidelis Health and Wellness. This organization provides a variety of health and wellness solutions to military members, veterans and first responders. They reach out to vets in the Baltimore/Annapolis/DC. areas and with CJ’s help, they will be able to expose this group of people to the benefits of a yoga practice.

“I am very excited to get into the practice of teaching yoga and look forward to giving back to our courageous and honorable military family,” says CJ.
