Yoga, Posture, and Mrs. Nixon

I don’t want to say how much time out of my day is spent hunched in front of a computer. I’ll just get upset, and it’s not worth the embarrassment. Kim Manfredi and Debbie Saag are attending an Ashtanga yoga workshop in New York City led by Sharath Jois, the grandson of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, founder of Ashtanga. Our teachers are constantly building their practice, believing that we are always students and forever learning.
Another day of practice, lots of help from Sharath and his daughter. Then brunch with Anna and Debbie at Caravan of Dreams on 6th Street. “Vegan restaurant” is such an understatement – nourishment cooked with love is more like it, the flavors divine and the atmosphere homey. I think we all cried at least once during this Meal. Now that’s good food!
Then Debbie and headed to 26th Street to the Breathing Project for hours and hours of Anatomy with one of my all time favorites, Leslie Kaminoff. He has such a reasonable approach to the practice. Read More…

Kim’s Update from New York Part II

Kim Manfredi and Debbie Saag are attending an Ashtanga yoga workshop in New York City led by Sharath Jois, the grandson of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, founder of Ashtanga. Our teachers are constantly building their practice, believing that we are always students and forever learning.

Sharath gave a lecture after class today. He reminded us of the importance of practicing asana, which is one of the eight limbs of yoga. Asana, he said, purifies the mind and the body, and it cleanses the nervous system. It is an important part of the practice of yoga! Read More…
